Proverbs 4:23 tells us, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”  This is important because as the days grow more and more wicked and people become more and more deceitful, we must be vigilant regarding who we allow to influence us or sow seed (information, etc) into our lives. As Believers we cannot allow ourselves to become a garbage dump for the media and that includes so-called, Christian media and information that is meant to “inform” or “teach” Believers a so-called truth but not THE TRUTH!  There is an overwhelming level of perverse and aberrant teaching that is sowing error, some are doing this in ignorance (which is no excuse because if you are not grounded in Biblical Christianity then you are leading people astray whether you mean to or not) but most are doing this with the satanic attempt to distract Believers, lure them off of the path of sound doctrine, and if they were never associated with sound doctrine to begin with, it takes a false convert from erroneous teaching and leads them further into confusion and greater error.  This past week of research has turned up more apostate and heretical information than a little bit!

Folks we are living in THE LAST DAYS, you are doing yourself a grave disservice when you allow someone else to “spoon-feed” you the Bible. Even if it is sound doctrine, your faith is misplaced if you trust men to correctly interpret the Word of God but you don’t trust the Holy Spirit to give you interpretation in terms of God’s plan and purpose for your life so that you have a barometer to effectively gauge and measure what is real and of God and what is false. Many people are going to end up in hell because they are entirely too dependent upon other people to read, study and interpret the Word of God for them, some of it is the result of the “shepherd-as-sole-authority” culture or “papal” influence within many protestant, evangelical churches where you are actually discouraged from seeking the Lord for yourself and are encouraged to take the words of the pastor and church leadership as inerrant. Then some people are just too lazy to read the Word of God for themselves and so they resign themselves to the easier route of going to church and allowing the pastor and church leadership to do all the work of disseminating God’s word while they sit passively in a pew, observe as if they came to church for the sake of entertainment, mere spectatorship or worse just to say they came to church. This leaves you vulnerable to deception and I challenge anyone who thinks “I’m barking up the wrong tree” to examine, read and closely study the first church in the Book of Acts. This kind of “papal” authority was never given by Yeshua and it is a perversion of what Biblical Christianity should be. Paul even encourages Believers to be like the Bereans (Acts 17:11) who “searched the Scriptures to see if what Paul and Silas were teaching was true.” God (Yahweh), Himself in Malachi tells the Children of Israel to “Put Me to the test!” (Malachi 3:10). So if The Creator of the Universe tells His people to put Him to the test to see if what He says is true, then what’s so special about your pastor or random televangelist that they shouldn’t have to prove that what they are preaching or teaching isn’t in error.  I John 4:1 says, “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.”

Because of the alarming level of apostasy and abject heretical teaching, you cannot afford to leave your salvation in the hand of someone who quite possibly may not know anymore about true biblical principles than you do. Most people who hold a title are fleecing God’s sheep and are leaving them vulnerable to erroneous and apostate teaching. Besides your pastor can’t get you to heaven, he can help and if he is a godly shepherd, he will help you but he can’t be with you 24/7 and churches that go beyond basic transparency and accountability are “out of their lane” anyway as they seek to be a “surrogate holy ghost” instead of encouraging believers to seek the wisdom of the Holy Ghost in all things for themselves. The pastor is the shepherd not the OWNER, he didn’t die for your sins and if he truly represents Yeshua, he will lead on behalf of Yeshua and not to serve his own carnal agenda and build his own kingdom. Which is all many mega-churches are, men pimping the gospel and building their own kingdoms and not God’s kingdom.

Now please don’t misunderstand me, as I am not advocating a disrespect or rebellion of sound church leadership but Biblical church leadership does not mimic the Catholic church and it most certainly will never discourage you in no way, from seeking the Will of God for yourself! Biblical church leadership, shepherds it does not lord over its membership and attempt to fill a space in your life that only the Holy Spirit can fill!

Last week Dave Hunt published an excerpt of the transcript from TBN’s Praise the Lord show. The excerpt, in context, reveals the blatant foolishness of TBN’s Founder, Paul Crouch in response to those who dare to question the doctrine of many TBN broadcast regulars. He even makes reference to “doctrinal doo-doo” in attempting to absolve himself and his network of any responsibility. This kind of arrogant absolution has become quite common as many hypocrites are being called out for their disgusting and unbiblical teachings and beliefs!

The following was posted on Dave Hunt of The Berean Call’s Facebook page:

On his “Praise the Lord” program before an international audience (most of whom apparently approve or they wouldn’t lend their support), the leader of the world’s largest Christian TV network vehemently denounced and in fact cursed any who would speak out for sound doctrine or who would seek to correct erroneous teaching. Here is a brief excerpt from that astonishing outburst:

“…that old rotten Sanhedrin crowd, twice dead, plucked up by the roots…they’re damned and on their way to hell and I don’t think there’s any redemption for them…the hypocrites, the heresy hunters that want to find a little mote of illegal doctrine in some Christian’s eyes…when they’ve got a whole forest in their own lives….
I say, “To hell with you! Get out of my life! Get out of the way! Quit blocking God’s bridges! I’m tired of this!…This is in my spirit. Oh, hallelujah!”…
Have you ever seen the old movie, Patton?…He’s my hero, he’s my hero. Old nail-chewin’, tobacco-chewin’, cussin’ Patton—but he read the Bible every day. I have a feeling we’ll see old General George in heaven….

There’s a wonderful scene in Patton …they’re trying to get the Third Army across the bridge in France and there’s an old, dumb jackass—donkey—right there on the bridge and it’s blocking the whole convoy of troops…General George roars up, pulls that ivory-handled revolver out…and he shoots the donkey….

There’s a spiritual application here….I want to say to all you scribes, pharisees, heresy hunters, all of you that are going around picking little bits of doctrinal error out of everybody’s eyes and dividing the Body of Christ…get out of God’s way, stop blocking God’s bridges…or God’s going to shoot you if I don’t…let Him sort out all this doctrinal doodoo!

I don’t care about your doctrines as long as you name the name of Jesus, as long as you believe He died dead [sic] and was buried but came out of the tomb on Sunday morning and ascended to the Father…I don’t care about anything else! Let’s join hands…to get this gospel preached in all the world….

The rest of this stuff is what Paul the Apostle calls dung—human excrement! It’s not worth anything! Get rid of it…and get on with winning the lost….

I refuse to argue any longer with any of you out there! Don’t even call me if you want to argue doctrine, if you want to straighten somebody out…criticize Ken Copeland…or Dad Hagin. Get out of my life! I don’t even want to talk to you…I don’t want to see your ugly face!”

Appalling as this performance was, it is necessary to recognize and confront the rationale, however emotional and perverted, behind the outburst. Indeed we would agree that zeal to evangelize the world is commendable and commanded—but with what gospel? By denouncing sound doctrine as unimportant and unrelated to the gospel, most of the New Testament was renounced. Is it not a compendium of doctrinal truth? The doctrinal correction that was so vehemently cursed is the very essence of Paul’s epistles. In fact, Paul declared that all of Scripture is intended for “doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16). He told Timothy to “reprove, rebuke, exhort with…doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine” (2 Tim 4:2-3). Apparently that time is now upon us!

Must we now denounce Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, et al. as “heresy hunters”? Has the Reformation been relegated to the trash heap of historical follies for its opposition to Rome’s heresies? In their integrity before God to stand firm for “the truth of the gospel” (Col 1:5), millions of martyrs died to give us the religious freedoms we now enjoy. Were it not for God’s grace and their concern for what TBN’s leader blasphemously referred to as “doctrinal doodoo,” many of us would be followers of Rome today, blinded and damned by a false gospel. Such is the importance of standing firm for sound doctrine! It is biblical doctrine that guards the gospel from perversion and guides our lives!

For those who doubt that TBN is not the bastion for sound Christian doctrine that it hails itself to be, one only need to measure Biblical Christianity against the roster of the heretical teachings of a Creflo Dollar or Kenneth Hagin to the downright apostasy of uber-political conservatives like John Hagee who actually wrote a book that denies that Jesus ever claimed to be The Messiah! (Check out our very first blog entry,  it contains the video with Hagee peddling his apostate teaching!)   This “doctrinal doo-doo” as Paul Crouch, so eloquently referred to it, is a perversion and an aberration of the Gospel! And regardless of what he thinks, he and these false prophets and teachers will be held accountable for every soul that they lead toward hell.  There are a few sound teachers but none that I am willing to openly endorse because of their association with ever-gospel-pimpin’ TBN.  Brothers and sisters, I have said this before and I will say it again, many will miss the mark because they refuse to read and study the Word of God and establish a relationship with Him for themselves! The sad, sobering truth is that because we are living in the last days many will be deceived and many will fall away but you don’t have to be one of them!

Wishing this stuff away will not make it go away! Face the truth of the day and age that you are now living in and get right with Yahweh!

I Timothy 4:1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.

Luke 17:1 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!

I John 4:6 But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
